Modern Fuels Engineering
Modern Fuels, based on its technical expertise on biomass management and bioenergy utilisation projects, as well as upon the experience gained while dealing with production of biofuels in its own facilities, offers such engineering services as: design services (conceptual/preliminary, general final design study and detail engineering), supervision, installation, commissioning and support of biomass processing and utilisation projects, i.e. pellet production units, briquetting and charcoal carbonisation plants, heating applications of tertiary sector buildings, industrial projects of conventional burners’ substitution from biomass burners, combined heat and power stations from biomass. The range of engineering services may take one of the following three forms:
1. Preliminary Design and Cost Estimation Services.
This is the simplest form of collaboration in that it includes the preparation of an initial and approximate engineering study of the project (conceptual or preliminary design) from the point of view of location requirements, production capacity, technological infrastructure, mechanical services and utilities network/ductwork. Under this collaboration is included evaluation of alternative technological solutions and financial offers aiming at the proposal to the customer of the optimal techno-economic solution.
2. Preliminary Design, General Final Design Study & Detail Engineering Services.
The second type of engineering services incorporates the step discussed above and includes further the general final design of mechanical-electrical engineering systems for submission to licensing authorities (e.g. Dept. of Industry, Dept. of Environment, Urban Planning Dept., Fire Service), as well as the detail engineering which provides a total, analytical and finalised picture of the project to the customer through detail drawings, 3D process layout models, drawings of engineering service networks/ductworks (e.g. electrical, sanitary and heating water, compressed air, steam, smoke and dust collection, etc.). According to this package of engineering services, the responsibilty of purchase, installation, commissioning of machinery and construction of auxiliary systems according to Modern Fuels Engineering detail engineering study remains with the customer and project owner.
3. Project “Turn-key” Services.
In this case usually the clients order a full set of services: preliminary design-prebudgeting, evaluation of alternative technologies, recommendation of optimal solution, general final engineering study for submission to licensing authorities, detail engineering for equipment installation and auxiliary systems, procurement of machinery from Modern Fuels Engineering international partners, supervision of machinery installation, commissioning, customer personnel training and handing over of technical documentation and “as built” drawings to the project owner. This variant is naturally the most expensive but it guarantees a successful result by protecting the customer from possible failures, time delays and budget excesses, which could mean multifold cost compared to the equivalent engineering fees.
